Quick reply to all the comments on whether anyone will
be using search engines in the future - "In five years,
won't most of us have bookmarked our primary destinations
and do limited searches?"

I don't think that people use the web as a news reader.
For me, anyway, the web isn't a substitute or even a
supplement to CNN, cable news or the 6 am radio
broadcast. I use the web for _research_. When I
learned that teachers were using our software for concept
mapping, I went to AltaVista to find sites that would
explain concept mapping to me. When one of my coworkers
told me that around 900 AD there was a major metropolis
located in what is now St. Louis, MO, I searched the web
to find out about that. And when my little sister told me
she was going to study abroad in Guadalajara, I went on
the web to find out more about Mexico.

Push technology is no answer. Perhaps most people will
subscribe to a service that sends breaking news to
their desktops - but we'll still venture out into the
wild web to get the answers to most of our questions.
