About two years ago on the old inet-marketing list I had written about
advertising to the college on-line market. The following is a post
from another list I participate in and I thought might be of some interest
to this forum.

To my colleagues in higher education:

Are there universities out there selling advertising on the
institution's web site? I don't think I've seen any yet. Are there
others considering it? What are the pros and cons in those
deliberations? How are the fees being structured? How are the proceeds
being used?

This topic came up at a meeting of public affairs officers in the State
University System of Florida (and I know several of you are lurking out
there). One of the institutions is at least considering it -- I'll leave
it to them to decide if they want to enter into this discussion.

As financial resources continue to grow scarce, we are all looking at
entrepreneurial opportunities, whether it's exclusive soft-drink rights
on campus or deals with makers of athletic apparel.

>From the business side, any perspectives? Anyone advertising through a
college or university who cares to share thoughts?
