Having triggered this thread of great discussion on pre-registering for media
kit information I feel the need to add my two cents once more...at BaseCamp
we have no intentions of 'pre-qualifying' anyone who wants our rate
information, once requested its sent out in a very timely fashion, ( we
certainly want to automate that process to accomodate the medium and
eliminate snail mail) we do however want the ability to follow-up with anyone
who has requested information, we want to learn not only who is interested in
our site, where they have chosen to advertise AND if they did not choose
BaseCamp, why not...simple as that. It's a huge learning curve out there
and we try and collect as much feedback as we can on our site and the outdoor
industry on the web in general. If you don't follow-up you'll never know.

We have a great sense of accomplishment at BaseCamp, 11 months on the web we
have created dynamite content , built a steady community of outdoor
enthusiasts and managed to attract major advertisers in our industry to our
site.
