I agree wholeheartedly with Margie Butler when she says:

The introduction of voice mail and autresponders is
positively damaging to business image. It's a short term
cost cutting excercise and an excuse for avoiding duties and
obligations. The vast majority of users seem to abuse what
should be a useful addition to company resources. Management
should occasionally phone their own staff, unannounced, and
leave messages on their voice mail, and send through
information requests by email. They should be shocked to
learn of unreturned calls, and incorrect information being
sent out days or weeks after it had been requested.

I recently had to get quotes for a client from some Canadian
papers. Out of seven contacted, only one paper replied, and
that was by normal snail mail, 2 weeks after my inital
request. What is the matter with these people? They provide
an email information service, then use paper, envelopes,
postage stamps and two weeks of time to send the wrong
information.
