A new service called PowerAgent was announced this week. Billed as an "ad filtering service," PowerAgent sends ads via email, based on what subjects a user decides he or she wants to relieve ads about. In that respect, it is very similar to the services Notifyme.com and Postmaster Direct, which have been around for awhile. Where PowerAgent differs is that it pays users as an incentive to participate in the program - essentially paying them to read what they already said they would read.

Online ad revenue hit $217.3 million at the end of this year's second quarter. That is right on schedule towards the $446 million predicted will be spend on online advertising this year.
