> ...people do not like to be "auto-directed"...

I think the person who wrote this slightly misunderstands what I'm talking
about. I just mean a plain old banner ad such that when you click on it,
instead of going to Proctor & Gambell (sp?)'s site or the Ad Council's
site or any other advertiser's site, you go to a pro-cookie page or the
network's statement on privacy.

If you think people get ticked off about auto-redirection, think again.
When you go to www.pathfinder.com, you get redirected, and Microsoft gives
any non-cookie-supporting user four or five redirects before you even see
a page....whenever you click on a web ad -- almost ANY web ad -- you get
redirected to a CGI program on Doubleclick that does whatever logging needs to
be done and redirects you to the advertiser's site. Most redirection occurs so
that the user doesn't see it.
