I'm not so sure this is true. I've worked with several special-interest
trade magazines, and while they aren't making tons of money, they have
gotten to the break-even point. The web sites may not be big money-makers
right now, but they are providing a useful service to their readers and
advertisers, broadening the magazines' scope, and do have the potential
for making serious money in the future.
