Greg, I can give you some feedback based on recent
experience. We launched coolshopping.com on July 28.
On July 30 we were selected for the Netscape Guide
What's New Page and Yahoo's Daily Pick (Yahoo
feeds Netscape). We experienced ** significant
traffic levels **, at least relative to our typical
levels. ( I never knew until that day that
servers do get physically hot!)

Our ISP worked closely with us to ensure the
servers held up to the traffic, which was about quadruple
our average daily rate of 2,000 visitors per day.
Then on the following Sunday, we were recycled
into Yahoo's Daily Pick again and our traffic doubled
for that day.

We have also received numerous other awards in
the past month, which can be seen at

>From what we can tell, the only ones resulting in some
noticable increase in traffic for the day, aside from Netscape
and Yahoo, were Cool Central (http://www.coolcentral.com),
and a feature in Newsbytes (and ultimately
Pointcast) -- although we're pleased to have won them all!
