Check out the Hyperstitial stuff being done by Streamix
(http://www.streamix.com). They were showing at the Online Advertising II
conference in New York a couple of weeks ago and their product delivers
advertising from local drives while new pages are downloading: clearly a
product with a lifespan clearly linked to that of the standard phone line
as datasource.
