EchoMedia is essentially productizing a simple META tag command. I've
met with them on several occasions and seriously considered doing a deal
with them, but found that an equivalent to their technology was trivial
to reproduce by the average web page designer.

I wrote an article for ClickZ on this issue some time back. You can
access it directly at http://www.clickz.com/archives/053097.html In that
article, I even provide the META command for creating a pop-up banner.

The other thing you need to ask yourself is -- in the case of their
product which pops up a java game for you to play with while waiting for
a file to download -- do you REALLY think this is what your clients want
to do while they wait for a download? I thought about it, and the answer
came up negative.

Finally, there are plenty of other alternative ad technologies out there
that you don't need to do sign any long term deals to use...
