Greeting Everyone!

I still routinely apply for awards, but unlike in the beginning, I
select more carefully within my niche. I have received quite a bunch,
but only about 60% of them are listed on my Awards page. I'm sure I
should eliminate a couple of them, and will when I get around to it.

Fact - Award sites drive about 125 visitors to my site monthly. Not too
impressive, but they are surfers and represent new visitors. 125 is OK
for Free! A few have created a temporary flux, while some only add
about 5 or 6 per week. Award sites are only one small piece of the
promotion puzzle. I agree with Eric Ward that they are a weakening
genre.

I have an awards site, but I feature the winners for an entire month,
rather than 1 day or 1 week. I get hundreds of submissions every month.

Visitors who have submitted are those using my site for website
promotion, in most cases. I use the list as a reference for sharing
information. Some have turned out to be great resources which I now
link to, and visa versa. I feature one commercial and one non-commercial
site monthly.

If you list me, I'll list you - Yes, perhaps not for Thom Forbes, but
for me it works! I have increased traffic tremendously by this
approach, including reciprocal links with Media Finder, Pointcast,
NetProfit Magazine, and many others. Thom Forbes wouldn't link with me,
but that's OK. He has a much different situation; His site is promoted
nationally by Mining Company ads, while I promote mine alone! His
analogy come from the "ivory tower", so to speak.

I like Jim Wilson's attitude; "Promote or Die!"

Just my opinion................Franklin Banker
