"Interesting. I wonder how you "considered caching"? If you have a
site people return to often, this trend could be explained by browser
caching. As your site is more of a sales page, this doesn't seem to be
the case."

Absolutely correct, we are not a site with a high Repeat Visitor Count
(only 10-12%). However, the means I used for calculating possible
caching was to take into consideration the number of people entering the
site via side doors --guessing they had been at the site previously.
Granted some people come through those side doors from the Search
Engines, but checking the referrer logs, for the most part, that is not
the case.

My concerns are not really for what is happening at our site -- we don't
sell advertising... however, we do *buy* advertising. If surfers in
general are turning graphics off at the rate *we're* seeing, well that's
a pretty dramatic increase in a ten month period, enough to give me
pause, and I am curious to see what others have experienced.

Your suggestion for testing is a good one... I was just hoping not to
have to "test" for another 10 months. ;)

And to all the people who have sent me private mails about keeping page
weights down and offering to help with that -- thanks for the tips, but
that's a completely different issue... btw, all of our pages are under
37KB, most under 35KB and we have a *very* low bailout rate (people not
waiting for the page to load before leaving).
