The web rings I've run across have mainly been on pages that had content
that I was interested in. Some of these pages were personal pages, but that
doesn't make their content any less valuable. (And some of them were very
badly designed, but the content was still good.)
(I can't help but wonder what you were doing on all those pages with no
content of interest to you?...:-) )
It would never occur to me NOT to do business with a site just because it
was a member of a web ring. To me, web rings give a sense of community:
THIS site is just one of several sites where I can find more information on
the same subject -- and some of the sites may have things to sell.
I've actually never followed a web ring, though, since it's a blind jump to
the next site, and I prefer to know where I'm going, generally speaking.
