Well, it can hurt if you have so many big graphics that people get tired of
waiting for your site to load and leave and don't come back. It can also
hurt if you have important information in your graphics that isn't repeated
in alt tages or someplace else in the text.
Being able to easily find information on a web site is only one part of
usability. Even more basic are things like: How long does it take to load?
Do you *have* to load grapics to navigate? Does it require a frames using
browser or other ability that not everyone may have? Does it crash your
browser?
