Hey All,
Once again we are coordinating a networking dinner the evening before
the Web Advertising '98 conference in New York (
http://www.thunderlizard.com/tlp/webad.html ). The dinner will be
held Sunday, February 1. We hosted a similar dinner before the last
Web Advertising conference in Monterey and it turned out to be a great
way for folks on Online Ads to meet face to face, do a bit of
networking, chat with members of the press, and share a terrific meal.
We are taking extra effort to make sure this year's dinner captures all
the elements that made last year's so wonderful.
We really appreciated all the suggestions that people submitted for
locations for having this dinner. We were looking for a combinations
of factors: top notch food and atmosphere, a location reasonably
close to the conference locale, an ability to accommodate a party of
50, and prices not too out of line with what it cost people for the
similar dinner we hosted last Spring in Monterey. Well, we done good
on 3 out of 4...
The place we have settled upon is a French bistro in Soho called
Alison on Dominick Street that has offered to close their restaurant
for the evening for Online Ads. They will be providing us with an
hors d'oeuvres and cocktail hour, followed by salad, appetizer, main
course, dessert, and dinner drinks (wine, sodas, coffee). The locale
is either a short cab ride or a slightly long walk from the conference
hotel.
You will find reviews of the restaurant at:
http://www.menusonline.com/cities/new_york/desc/alisonondominickstreet.shtml
and at
http://www.webflex.com/kimchi/food-travel/alison.htm
Although it won't be exactly the same for us, a sample menu can be
found online at:
http://www.menusonline.com/cities/new_york/menus/alisonondominickstreet.shtml
As you probably have guessed, the one area out of the four that we
were less than successful was finding prices in New York similar to
Monterey for a comparable dinner. We looked at a number of locales,
but the bottom line is that it is about 50% more expensive.
Tenagra/Online Ads will once again be covering the tab for the hors
d'oeuvres and drinks (also 50% more expensive!).
The cost for the four-course dinner portion of the evening comes out
to a fixed price of $95/person, including tax and gratuity. Seating
is limiting to 50 people and we will take RSVPs on a first come, first
served basis.
If you think you will attend and want to assure a seat (and to help us
with planning), we would appreciate it if you would quickly RSVP your
attendance (please also note how many people you will bring along, if
any). To RSVP, please e-mail or call:
Rob Van Slyke at Tenagra
281/480-6300 or rob_at_tenagra.com .
You will be able to cancel your RSVP if necessary for a time -- we
will let you know when we need a 100% firm commitment later.
[As an side note, I noticed that today is the last day for
pre-registration at the Web Advertising '98 conference. After today,
registration rates go up $200, the cost of two dinners!]
Thanks,
richard
