This is already happening on the Firefly Network (http://www.firefly.com),
where web users can come and look for others with shared tastes and find
entertainment products (music and movies) they will like. As each visitor
is registered, providing certain data points, like age, gender and zip
code, we are able to target ads and do reporting accordingly. Also, since
Firefly members express their interests in music and movies, either in
pursuit of personalized recommendations, or taking part (chat, bbs) with
others of the same ilk, we are able to target ads this way as well.
Privacy is maintained as every member uses an alias he/she chooses; we
don't ask for names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. We don't target ads by
following people individually around the web or our network. For more info
on the company check out http://www.firefly.net .

Q: Why should I pay $50-$70 CPM for targeted ads on Internet networks?
A: You probably shouldn't. With Adbot, bidding starts at only $5 CPM.
