Howdy from Texas!

"The other question I have is regarding the compensation. They take 70% of
the first $5,000 and 55% of anything over that."

This sounds like my book deal. In the old days, before the Web (1994), I
self-published my book, Meltdown Diet and Cookbook: Burn Fat 24 Hours A Day,
Even While You Sleep. I spent $2.50 of my hard earned money to produce each
brilliant tome <g>.

Barnes and Noble's national book buyer phoned me and wanted to sell my book
in their stores. They priced my book at $10. I had to sell them my book for
$4.50. That means I made two dollars and they got $5.50.

As soon as I set up a Web site, I cancelled my contract with their
wholesaler. Since February, 1995, I've sold my book solely on my Web site. My
business associates were shocked. But do the math. Now I get to keep $7.50
instead of $2. I sell a lot less books, but I'm making a lot more money.

I have happier customers, too, because now I can autograph each book.

The answer to Tim's question is: just say no to these banner thieves! Why
should these guys make all the money when we're doing all the work? Let's use
our power and make these transactions a win-win for everyone.

{hugs] from Dallas, Beth Ellyn :D
