I must disagree here. In my primary usr acct, I get close to 150 emails per
day (more if you count maillist digests as more than 1) from friends,
clients and misc lists that I have signed up for. Spam is _anybody_ who
shows up uninvited with a sales pitch. That means you too.

Just because someone did 'research' and saw that I have an office doesn't
mean I want to read about their great prices on staples. Even when it's
more specific, it isn't specific enough. Say I'm a webmaster, how many
competing schemes for success on the internet are out there? Bulk mailers,
cybermalls, link trading clubs, 100s of HTML editors and web bells &
whistles, ISP offers, etc., all equally certain that I'm interested in
hearing their deal. I don't have time to sort through anything that smells
like a commercial announcement or form letter. If I didn't request it, or
you didn't see a related post of mine on a maillist or usenet, you can't
get focused enough for this to be welcome in my box. The email link on my
page is for prospects, not your convenience.
