I thought this group would be entertained by my local
newspaper chain's continuing misguided efforts to sell
advertising on its web site. Their strategy: fixed pricing
to have your ad included "in rotation" without any
guarantees or even assurances regarding number of=20
exposures. They current draw a whopping 6,830 visitors
per week (unaudited, no definition of "visitor" provided)
and they seek $602 per month for advertising. Even
assuming growth to 40,000 visitors per month, and
assuming (contrary to reason) that your ad is shown to
every visitor, that works out to 15 cents per impression.

Can you say "business failure"?
