I would think it might depend on what the contest is, and how it relates to
the content. Even with a straight drawing/sweeps type contest, if you have
a focused site, and the prize is directly connected to the content, you
should draw mainly qualified traffic, since if someone isn't interested in
the content, they probably won't be interested in the prize.
Or have a contest where people actually have to *do* something. and what
they do is related to the content in some way. That would make it even less
likely that you'd get lots of contest-players rather than qualified
prospects. (Of course, that will be more work, since the entries will have
to be judged in some way.)
