The American Society of Magazine Editors has issued Guidelines for New
Media that call for clear distinctions between editorial and advertising
content that appear on magazines¼ websites. Among other issues, the
guidelines specifically address the linking of advertisers' sites from
editorial content -- an issue that has been raised recently on this list.

Because ASME does not yet have a website, I have, with its permission,
posted the Guidelines at
