I, too, have been lurking for months. I really appreciate all of the
information that has been shared in this list. We are the largest classic
vehicle magazine on the Internet currently providing over a half million
page views/month. We are a content provider for Pointcast Network. We have
worked with both Flycast and Webconnect and have an appreciation for the
newness of the web advertising industry. My issue for the group is that I
would like to take another stab at search engine visability. Does anyone
have any experiences, good or bad, with any of the various products that
claim to upgrade ones listing? Thanks.

Hallo,

I am a student in Holland busy with my thesis and looking for some help
and/or comments to my statement. In order to become an effective on-line
retailer (in Holland), on-line retailers should use a variety of ways of
communication with their customers, instead of only relying on the
Internet. With a variety of ways do I mean the communication tools(kotler)
advertising, sales promotion, public relation, personal selling and direct
marketing. In order to get a better insight in this matter I would like to
know what you think. Can they rely on the Internet or should they also use
tools outside the Internet????

I would be very pleased if anybody could give me some useful tips or
places, persons I could contact about this matter.

With kind regards,

Does anyone know which of the large ad agencies are most heavily into
Internet advertising? Is there a website that lists Web advertisers,
agencies, or companies?

Thanks,

From: Gregg Lewis <gflewis_at_mindspring.com>

I am Gregg Lewis, President of FlightBrief (http://www.flightbrief.com),
a new, subscription-based weather and flight planning site for pilots
throughout the US. Our site went online June 1 and we are currently
working on marketing the site to the aviation community. We have tried to
do our marketing homework, pouring over two excellent books by list
members Scott O'Keefe "Publicity on the Internet" and Kim Bayne "The
Internet Marketing Plan." We are registering with the major directories,
completing an exhaustive linking campaign, planning a press release to
aviation media, and we are pursuing co-marketing agreements with major
players in the industry. Thanks to these books, I think our marketing
plan will bring thousands of potential pilots to our new site.

A lingering doubt I have is whether we have done everything on our site
to be prepared for the new visitors and close the sale with our potential
customers. New visitors to the FlightBrief come to the homepage and we
hope, most will select the "Take a Tour" button so that we may show them
our site's features and products. Our goal is to get them to sign-up for
the free 14-day trial as the way to really see everything the sites have
to offer. I'm not convinced we have done everything to create an
environment where these new pilots spend the time to take the tour and
subscribe.

What have other subscription-based sites done to get visitors to
subscribe or sign-up for a free trial? Anyone have any noteworthy
examples? Please feel free to rummage through FlightBrief. I am including
a temporary user id and password for online ad members.

User ID -----> market
Password ----> market1

I will post to this list the results of any changes I make to the site.

Hi - this is the first message I've posted to o-a but I've been following the discussions with great interest for a few weeks now. The international enquiries are particularly interesting - we're all starting to look globally for on-line advertising revenue, it seems, and not before time.

My company organises Internet conferences around the world (don't worry, this isn't a sales pitch) and we're meeting highly wired advertising executives in South Africa, across Europe , Pacific-Rim countries and India/Pakistan. These guys are very forward-looking and understand their markets better than anyone. We want to build up the discussion of on-line marketing internationally - particularly Push-based marketing - and if there's anyone out there who wants to help me do this, please get in touch.

Hello. I have a bit of a call for help. I am preparing a paper to be delivered in Amsterdam in the fall at a seminar geared towards helping European businesses make better use of the net. I would welcome commentary and anecdotes from anyone on this list in the following areas:

1. European-based business people currently using the net. What have been your successes, failures, areas of greatest difficulty?

2. General commentary on why the European market for consumer goods online appears healthy (I'm an online retailer, more or less), but Eurobusiness has been slow to market biz to biz.

Case histories welcome. Please email me direct at <lperyer_at_cduniverse.com>.

Thanks,

Larry

Thanks!

hello: I am the marketing and sales director of the only (and largest) newspaper web site in San Juan, Puerto RIco (http://www.endi.com). To make a long story short we are the first web site to deal with ad agencies in order to bring their clients ads and sponsorships to our newspaper. I NEED more experienced people on this field to give me some advice in various issues such as: #1. I started doing presentations two months ago to ad agencies (mainly looking for sponsorships). I already have four sponsorhsips (two big banks, one big store, and one mortgage bank) the prices range from $2000.00-$4000.00/month. We havent launched our site officially and we are getting 10,000 hits a day. Is this a good price to sart with considering that there are only 200,000 internet users in Puerto RIco and that things are just starting down here?

#2. I'm having a lot of problems (just like everybody else at the beginning) convincing ad agencies and their clients about the growing power of this medium. I thought that maybe some of you could give me some tips since maybe you have a little bit more experience... issue like "if you rotate my banner then you should charge me less than what you have on your media kit since not everybody is going to be able to see my banner, and another issue is eventhough the largest insurance company in Puerto Rico is going online they dont think they should sponsor our health section (on our web site) because they dont think that the people that are going in to read the newspaper are going to read about health issues on the Internet.

Sorry for such a long post and I APPRECIATE ANY COMMENT whatsoever. Feel free to contact me through my personal e-mail: beatriz_at_endi.com thank you for your help.

Hi everyone!

I'm the owner of Ergodynamix - the publisher of All About Money (free email newsletter that some of you may be familiar with).

We're expanding the Ergodynamix family rapidly with a variety of new products and services and are looking for people to fill approximately 10 different positions right now. All of which are on a contract basis and are part-time. For most of the positions, location is not important. Positions range from sales to editing to web site development. We anticipate a total of over 50 positions to be available by the end of August. Although most of the positions are Internet-based, not all are. However, having Internet access is a must for any applicants.

If you want to be associated with a growing company that is on the cutting edge of product development, look no further! Due to this rapid expansion, we've set up an announcement list of new positions as they open, and old ones as they are not filled. If you are interested, mailto:join-ergo_at_allaboutbiz.com to be added.

Regards,

Sharon Tucci
