I don't know about jump pages, I don't have any.
Sorry Sue, I find them annoying, just a personal
thing :-)

But I am getting about 3% clickthrough on a welcome
window page.

By that I mean that when anyone enters the site
from a search engine, they get the page that
they found (normally deep inside the site).
BUT they also get a little pop-up that says welcome
to the site, and the home page is here,
and generally lets them know how lucky
they are.

The program that generates the popup
has access to the search string that they
typed into altavista or whatever so
I can even sell search words from the
search engine!

To see it work, go into altavista and
type the following (including quotes)

"Front and Middle Office Technology"

then take the link to Bob's List.

It is a bit slow to come up because
the image file doesn't have size tags
yet - a small enhancement in the
wings!

I would be interested in the
opinion of this fine body to
the technique. Is anyone else
using welcome windows?

Bob
