I was looking at adbot today for first time in few months. I have several
small clients with sites getting 10,000 to 50,000 page views a month and
are looking for revenue sources.

I read this press release (full text www.adbot.com/r_062797.htm)

>CHICAGO--June 27, 1997

>Bids were received for every impression offered. High bids ranged from 55
>cents CPM for Gaming to $3 CPM for Search Engines & Directories.
>Click-throughs sold for 6.8 cents a piece. "It amazes me that some publishers
>who are not our customers keep trying to get $20 to $50 CPM, even when
>hardly any of their inventory sells," said Frith.

I had to read this twice to make sure it was not a typo. Did they say 55
cents? My understanding is that Adbot takes 15% of the Gross leaving 85%,
in this case, 46.75 cents PER 1000.

Lets see, assuming you have 50,000 page viewers sold at 50 cents CPM (lets
round up) you get a massive $25.

And they wonder why sites try to sell at $20 CPM and yet have only a
fraction sold at that rate. Well, even if I only sell 5% of my site at $20
CPM I will get twice the money compared to the Adbot sale.

I was going to recommend these sites to Adbot while they ramp up their own
sales. But at $.55 to $3 CPM is it even worth the time to talk to Adbot?
