I will comment, Bill. I was about to use Adbot starting at the July
31st auction, but I balked for a few reasons, including the long
lead-time and some things I consider undesirable.

First off, my site sells ads hands-over-fist (IMHO since I am the sole
person responsible for the site), except that I do have that 20% "slack"
space that needs to be filled with something. Adbot is one alternative
that I will probably try, but there is one program I'm using that seems
to beat Adbot at its own game.

Here's what I'm doing with the left-over space: I put ads for a company
that pays me for every on-line application that gets filled out by
people from my site. It was free to sign up with this company, and now
I just point little banners to their website. The way they track it is
that I have a unique URL that belongs to my site, and each person
signing up for this service will be credited to me. I get paid once
every month for the previous month's traffic.

The advantages over the Adbot network?
I was up and running in 2 days, not 4 weeks -- no contract, just a
one-page form to fill out with my name and address
I can put the banners anywhere, and in fact, I get better response from
a paragraph/text link that explains about the service.
I get paid monthly
I track my banners for click-thru, so I can use only the best banners
I can drop the banners at any time and sell space to "real" customers
who pay on a CPM basis (and pay a lot more, I might add).
Lastly, I'm still testing the system out, however I'm pretty sure that
the $$ per CPM is more than the $3.40 quoted to me by my Adbot rep (my
site falls under computers and technology, which may be more expensive
than most). My really rough guess is that I clear around $5 per CPM for
the banners, however my site doesn't match well with the service being
sold (not target audience).

I have been careful not to mention the name of the company that I am
using, because I do not wish to advertise their product here. Merely
send me mail or visit my home page if you want to know -and- there are
lurkers within that particular company that may contact you privately.
I believe this is the mailing list which someone told me about them.
