There are very simple reasons cookies fall into the 'hated or dispised'
category. Sites use them without explaining why; sites use them when
they (the site) are not engaged in commerce; site sysadmins don't know
what the heck they are doing, and so the server wants to set a cookie
*for every bloody GIF* on a page. For those of us with 3.0 browsers,
this adds to exasperation, in general.

You want people to accept them? Then help your cohorts understand how to
program them. Advise your clients to *prominently* display privacy
notices. When this info is missing, this is a case of the web site
screaming, SHOUTING, No Comment!

See W. Wacker, The 500 Year Delta -- nice chapter on privacy. It is our
information; if it has value to advertisers, well, figure out a way to
compensate us.
