I don't recall seeing this mentioned in the online-advertising mailing
list, so pardon this if it has appeared and I've missed it.
Morgan Stanley earlier this year published a report for its clients
called "The Internet Advertising Report." This report, in slightly
updated form, is now available to the public, and should be a helpful
refererence for many who read this list. The specifics are:
The Internet Advertising Report, by Mary Meeker, 1997,
HarperBusiness, ISBN 0-88730-882-1, $18.00
I bought a copy through amazon.com, which seems to have it in stock,
but it should be generally available.
The slant on investing (as one might expect from Morgan Stanley) is
not strong. There's lots of helpful background information, and much
of it is quite up to date. I found the sections on the historical
growth characteristics of other media (radio, TV, magazines) very
interesting. The acknowledgments page is dated in February of 1997,
so it seems to have gotten into print fairly quickly.
