I am looking for information on how people read their email. Specifically,
what percentage read their email on-line, and what percentage download the
messages and read them off-line.

The reason that I am looking for this information is that my company
(Mercury Mail) sends out high volumes of customized email (news, weather,
sports, stocks, etc.), which is advertising supported. If a person is
reading this email off line, they will not be able to connect to our ad
server to receive the ad banners with the message, much less click through
on them. Does anyone have any statistics on this, or know where I might
find some?
