ONLINE ADS>> What About Non-Web Online Advertising?

I've been lurking for awhile and thought it was time to jump in, but first a
quick intro...

I manage an electronic newswire covering the PC/Mac and online industries,
distributing 300-400 full text articles every week. Besides the news
articles, I also provide a PC industry reference database that lists about
27,000 companies/authors and 79,000+ products -- providing mailing addresses,
phone numbers, plus hot-link web pointers and email addresses. I also provide
weblink menus with over 7,000 links to various computing related sites
(company sites, online publications, trade show & seminar info,
company/product indexes, etc.). Plus there's a download library with various
reference material, news archives and more. Current usage is running about
25,000 entires per month after recovering from some disasterious system
problems in my area.

By the way, I do accept press releases and news articles about web sites and
other online industry type news. Submissions can be email to this address
(rbakerpc_at_aol.com), just include the article in the body of an email message
with no special formatting.

Only problem I have is that my information is NOT on the web, it's on America
Online and they're prodding me to move from my current revenue model to using
advertisers and sponsors. With the current AOL tools, etc. the current web
banner type advertising doesn't quite work the same. What interest do people
in the media, etc. have in placing advertisements on AOL areas? Would ad
pricing be treated about the same (based on logins in my area) ? What type
of ads/information would be desireable? Would there be interest in the
ability to include full text info-mercials in various menus in my area, or
things like dealer databases, etc. ???

Any suggestions, ideas, comments, leads, etc. would be appreciated!
