Some real or potential virtues of Web based media kits that haven't been
mentioned are:

As a planner or buyer I can share them quickly and easily with clients and
other people in my agency who might either contribute to the buying decision
or make a buy themselves for another client or brand.

A Web based media kit could include other features like the ability to
monitor the performance of a buy in progress and tweak it to improve its
performance.

A Web based media kit could (should) include links to pages where ads are
accepted.

A Web based media kit could (should) make it possible to negotiate and close
ad deals online.

Summarizing the last few points, other media have struggled for years to
implement EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) systems for planning, buying,
trafficking and posting. The Internet serves (pun intended) it to us on a
platter.

Digital information saves trees.

One of the cool things about the Internet is that the medium and its selling
tools are actually or potentially one and the same.
