An open letter to the Online-Advertising discussion group,

In today's O-A post, Herman Tumurcuoglu makes the following commentary on a
private email I wrote to Shannon L. Entin:

1. The medium is NOT proven. Show me the research.
2. The rates are as high as I say they are for some of the sites selling
advertising. I know this, Herman, because I do interactive media planning
for a living.

Gee, Mr. Tumurcuoglu, if you were going to quote me out of context and
without right, you could have at least done me the courtesy of including my
comments to Ms. Entin in the correct context. Here is my quote exactly:

Mr. Tumurcuoglu had absolutely *NO* right to include private comments I
made to another person in a public forum. I addressed my email to Ms.
Entin privately, and I cc'd Mr. Tumurcuoglu on it, because I included a
response to comments that both had made. Incidentally, for the record, Ms.
Entin returned to me in *PRIVATE*, a highly intelligent, civilized,
insightful response.

For the record, I have attempted to get in touch with Mr. Tumurcuoglu via
email and by telephone. I have yet to get a response. But when I do, I
look forward to discussing our differences - IN PRIVATE.
