I think it would be fairly tasteful for an association to advertise
services and products the association offers on pages that talk about
the association and its events and to advertise other products and
services on pages that offer a high content value to the user. It
probably would be a good idea to identify paid advertisement as such and
somewhere let users know the association does not necessarily endorse
advertised products or services.

This is a great place to ask your question. Another great place would
be the DC area regional Internet marketing list sponsored by the Potomac

Chances are you will find a lot of other people serving non-profits and
associations who have faced this issue also.
