I had a test with similiar banners on exchange-programs for our US-Site
(linkexchange.com) and our german site (link4kink.com). I wondered about the
different rates of click-through-rates between this countries: The same
banner got in the US 2.34% CTR and in Germany 8.45%. As I recognized, that
there are sometimes problems with loading times, I reduced a banner down to
a size of 1.679 Bytes(!!!) and increased the CTR in Germany up to 17.39% !!!
(The increasing with the new banner in the US is nothing worth to talk about)

I don't know exactly, why this rates are so different. Maybe two point of
views to the discussions:

- This kind of advertising is new for the german market so the acceptance is
higher as in the USA. This means, the CTRs will go down slowly but constantly.

- Linkexchnage has over 100.000 members. This could be to much to handle for
their server ?!

So far some impressions from Germany
