On Safe-Audit we have a number of banners that achieve the "whopping"
5% click through or even more up to 10%. Part of the reason is that our
banners are locally hosted (by over 200 host sites and growing) thereby
avoiding the problems of congestion over the net. The other part of the
reason is that our advertisers are paying by results, either click through
or completion of a form. In consequence the banners are very targeted.
Interestingly the Forester research survey "Media & Technology
Strategies" at http://www.forrester.com/campaign/homepage.htm
(you have to register first) states that 75% of advertisers polled would
prefer to pay by results rather than by exposures.
