In a word, yes.
The predictions of the Internet's demise have been greatly exagerated. It's
the old newsdesk rule of thumb -- continued good news gets dull. After a
few months of reporting "Internet continues to grow, companies work on
becoming successful" the analysts and industry pundits get a little bored.
So they try to get creative, and we get things like:
"Everyone Goes Online At Same Time, World Implodes", or
"Secret HTML Tags Linked to Cult Conversion", or
"Web Browsing Erodes Moral Reasoning in Rats, Warns Study", and so on.

Many seem to expect success to come swifty and definitely and easily -- a
simplistic notion. Any mistakes or stumbles or hiccups in the Internet
Industry are treated as evidence of vital death-dealing flaws. This is
frustrating to us on the inside, who realize that working on the Internet
requires hardwork, courage, and quick wits..... and lots of it. It's a new
frontier! If success in this industry was easy, would any of us bother with
it? Our industry moves too fast to be observed from the outside, yet many
try. I guess we must be tolerant of them, gently pat their heads, and move
on.
