Probably because people are just tired of reading about things like this.
It's absolutey the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life. You
can bet that if people stopped bending over backwards for companies like
Microsoft, things like this would never happen. There's one resounding
solution: turn down their advertising. If they don't want to play by the
rules, tough luck. I guarantee that they would change their tune.
Microsoft's marketing people are very aware of the value of Ad Banner brand
recognition. Especially when they're competing with Netscape. Although
they're also aware of how soft spined the online advertising industry is .
Their attitude is this: If agencies willing to go for pay per click through
and ignore the value of the brand recognition at the top of the screen, we
can probably get them to give us free advertising unless people download
our software
There is one simple solution. Wake up. Think like an agency, not like
someone desperate for money. Remember, it's our world and we set the
rules... not them.
