Debra Aho Williamson in Advertising Age says that
indications are strong that barter is a bigger
presence on the Net than the industry wants to
admit. See:

Cliff, Thanks for posting the link to this article it is very interesting.

IMHO its great to hear that barter is thriving on the Net and businesses are
thriving due to barter!

Some of the comments in these articles show that some of media providers
understand the benefits of barter :), while others just don't get it :( I
would expect/hope that those that get it will be more successful than those
that don't - that's why it works!

I really don't see what the issue is and why its "[more] than the industry
wants to admit"? It is revenue after all and should be reported just like
cash revenue, that's how it works with the IRS so again what's the issue?
Further, barter is a major part of all the other forms of advertising media
and in fact most industries where you are dealing with a perishable -
restaurants, hotels, etc. as well as many others. So why should Internet
advertisers miss out on these opportunities or be discouraged from using
them? I would strongly encourage internet business to utilize barter for
their growth and success!

Hopefully, others will see the benefits of barter for their business :)
