I felt like I needed to respond to your account of your negative experiences
with one barter network. Hopefully this will be informative to the list
membership.

You already pointed out that the problem you encountered was not inherent to
barter but with a particular network. I just wanted to point out that not
all trade/barter exchanges suffer from these problems (which you appear to
already know). We have been very satisfied clients of another trade/barter
exchange for over 3 years. They prohibit the type of inflated prices or
"price-gouging" that you experienced. We trade at 100% retail/fair market
value. "Price-gouging" is against the Rules and Regulations of the exchange
and grounds for cancellation. Further buy and sell at 100% trade, not the
part-cash part-trade types you will find out there. In fact part-cash
part-trade is also against the Rules and Regulations of the exchange - I can
explain why if you want?

So, bottom line is that there are *reputable* trade/barter exchanges out
there were you can realize all the benefits of barter without the problems
you encountered.

I would like to hear others trade/barter experiences. I would be happy to
try to respond to any questions about trade/barter you may have.
