ONLINE-ADS>> Overcoming the trust factor?

The very nature of the internet means that we are constantly
communicating to email addresses and newsgroups rather than 'real'
people. In the context of trying to sell advertising space (and
perhaps all internet trading issues), there is a problem of convincing
someone that you *are* going to provide them with the service that
they are paying for. People see the very real problem of someone
cheating them out of their money and getting away with it.

I have experienced this because at my site I sell advertising space
yet advertisers have to send me the money (via cheque) before their
adverts are placed on display. This led me to consider displaying half
of the advertisements before having received the required amount for
the total number of ads. However likewise in this arrangement I stand
to lose out if the advertiser refuses to pay up.

An extra dimension to the problem is that I live in the UK and people
are even more wary of losing their money if they have to send it
abroad.

This 'trust' factor, I am sure, has a large part to play in the buying
and selling of impressions and I would appreciate any suggestions that
might reduce it.
