There has been some discussion about opt-in lists here and I have two
questions:

1. Is anyone familiar with www.webthemes.com and if yes, could you share
your experience with them? I am webmaster for Proven Edge Inc -- we
develop software for the small office/home office market and we are
investigating several mailing lists for possible sponsorship. One list
which looks particularly interesting informs me that they will be using
webthemes for their next mailing.

2. The issue presented in number one goes beyond our considering this
one list for sponsorship -- I know (if from nothing else, from
conversations here) that businesses have been burned by buying lists
they believed to be opt-in, but which were in fact spammers. How do
lists handle informing advertisers that they will be changing their
distribution? If we were advertising on a list which chose to change
their distribution (and made a poor selection in the opt-in company they
chose to use), we too would be burned. Because our company is so
categorically opposed to spamming, this poses a concern for the entire
concept of advertising on mailing lists.
