This is an update to my previous post about the censoring of my Bikini
Photo Contest banner ad. (Thanks for all of your email on this subject.)

After my ad was refused two or three times by a banner exchange for
having a girl in a bikini on it, I finally took off the photo and just
ran the text on the banner that read "Bikini Photo Contest, Enter to
Win! Click here." I also found another banner exchange that was
willing to run my ad as I originally designed it, bikini clad girl and
all. Both of the exchanges' banners are placed on my home page, one
just below the other.

I have been tracking the ads for about a week now and have noticed that
both ads pull about the same click-through ratio, about 22:1. This is
much higher than any other ads I have ever run. However, I find it even
more interesting to note that even without the picture, the text-only ad
pulls just as well as the picture ad. It just goes to show that the
power of the word and a little imagination goes a long ways in
advertising!
