Re: ONLINE-ADS>> Pop Up Ads - Another Ad Model?

When I watch my favorite television program or a news broadcast, an
ad does not suddenly pop into the middle of the screen, obstructing
my chosen view... and radio broadcasts are not interrupted with an
overiding sound byte ad. Advertising on/in traditional media waits
its turn.

The pop-up boxes not only intrude on a users self-selected view, they
do so at a time when the user is involved with another task. They
have the bad manners to ignore the self-select nature of the medium -
and I can just see the "carnival midway" effect of popup ads and self-
detonating audio ads! Appropriate for some sites - death to others,
whose users would protest by never visiting again.
