I joined this list a few weeks ago and have found it be be very
informative. I work for a small newspaper in North Carolina which
hosts a website called Philanthropy Journal Online. We provide
national and regional news and information for nonprofit executives
and fundraisers. Its a niche market and we have a very extensive
site.

I haven't seen this question addressed before but I'm hoping someone
has some experience in this area. We have been selling classified ads
on our site for several months but its just started to take off in the
last few weeks. Thus far we have been billing these ads once a month
on the same cycle that we bill the print ads in our paper.

My questions are:

1. Does anyone know of billing software you can use for online
classifieds? Our current system means that some advertisers get
billed within a few days, but others don't get billed for 4 or 5
weeks. We aren't having any collection problems so far but we'd like
to be able to collect sooner.

2. Do most organizations except online invoices or do they insist upon
having a traditional bill sent through the mail? What is your
experience with this?

Any thoughts on this subject? Thanks for your help.
