I know this group has gone over the reletive benefits of using
contests as a way of generating traffic. Some feel that the type of
visitors that contests bring in are of little value to their site.
Others are just interested in the visability that hosting a contest
provides. The fact is that popularity of this approach remains high
and is possibly increasing.

This post is for those that may be new to this group or may have
missed the previous posts on the usage of contests as an advertising
tool. For those of you that are using contests you need to be aware
that there are literally dozens of sites out there that will list
your contest.... if you make them aware of it.

What I suggest is that you search these 'lisiting' sites out and
direct e-mail them (believe me they don't mind) asking them to list
your contest. One downfall of these listing sites, from the
advetisers perspective is that they link visitors directly to your
contest entry page. Many visitors circumvent your site completely.

When you search out these sites add them to your e-mail address book
so you can easily update them about new or changing contest. Start
with http://www.contestworld.com/advertise/free.html the one benefit
of my site is that I will direct the vistor to the page of your
choice (and supply you a banner ad free). So that may be your best
alternative but you should notify as many contest sites as possible
for full visability.
