Hello to everybody,

I am an italian writer and I've been lurking this list for a while. I'm
writing an article about Web repping firms and I have a question for you.

I've noticed that the major US Web Repping firms (Softbank, DoubleClick
etc.) are focalized only on the web i.e. they don't represent properties in
other media. Here in Italy the situation is different: traditional media
(TV, radio and printed media) has been always represented by repping firms
that now are beginning to represent also websites. I've always thought
about media repping firms as a typical italian phenomenon, since in other
countries publishers represent themselves to sell ad space (is it
correct?). So the question is: are web repping firms a new phenomenon in
the US and why?
