Hello Richard,

This post is in response to the first issue on Reducing
Pricing Structure of Services when launching a new website.

When I started the Alumni-Network in June 1997, we did just
that to entice our expected audience to come to our website
and use our services. Did it work? Yes and no. Let me
explain. We reduced our prices thinking that companies
would "try out" our services without too much hesitation.
Well, that wasn't necessarily the case as we found out.
Companies are willing to pay top dollar if they can depend
on the service/product. My competitors are able to command
alot of money for what I classify as similar services to
mine and they are really busy. That is not to say that we
are not really busy as we now provide recruitment services
for over 1500 clients worldwide!

We are now 6 months old and we are still wrestling with our
pricing structure! Not only that, there is the problem of
ensuring that you change every single reference to pricing
structure on every single page and also on all the websites
and searchengines that you have previously put that info,
when you are ready to introduce your "real prices". It is
alot of work.

In hindsight, I wish that I had given alot more thought to
offering "reduced prices" at the beginning and maybe I would
have had more time to spend on the marketing, promoting,
selling of our services than changing the website
files....food for thought.
