As someone about to pass his first Thanksgiving in the USA, I wonder if
we shouldn't be giving a thought to the problems in overseas markets
right now. Recent reports
(http://cgi.pathfinder.com/netly/editorial/0,1012,1596,00.html) have
shown for instance how the UK has had more than its fair share of new
media downsizing lately. Germany recently jacked up its local phone
rates, causing even Nicholas Negroponte to complain that Deutsche Telekom
is cutting people off the Net.

Does this mean that US new media advertising are right to expand
overseas? Is now the right time for DoubleClick and Modem Media to be
establishing a UK presence?

Methinks its time for a situation report from non-US members of the list.
