Hi Marc,
Thanks for your message. I went to your site to check out the way use of
video to serve content and ads. Great job, it looks really nice. You are
definitely utilizing the streaming video technology that is available today
in the best way possible. Your note however seems to beg the question of
what value does echoMEDIA bring to the table with its Sesame-ad technology,
compared with simply putting up streaming video as you have already done
in-house.
The current technology that your site is using is great for your needs, but
to say that it doesn't need Sesame-ad is really an apples/oranges
comparison: the Auto Channel employed a do-it-yourself method of creating
ads, whereas Sesame is a service as well as a technology. echoMEDIA serves
ads for clients, like yourselves -- so you don't have to worry about the
technical details of implementation, visitors' plug-ins, or back-end
reporting. There are many small details associated with serving the ads, be
it banners or video ads, which a do-it-yourself site would have to be
worried about. The Auto Chanel is a special case since they are already
serving video (for the car race shows).
The Sesame-ad technology is not just serving ads, it is monitoring line
speed and smartly delivering a creative ad message that best suites the
user's connection at that time. It differs in that no plug-in is required
for an ad to be displayed. Your choice of VXtreme is great, but if a
visitor doesn't have it, they must go get it for the ad to be played. Our
technology checks to see what plug-ins, if any, are installed and smartly
delivers an ad that the viewer can see right away. It also tracks the time
the visitor's is on your site. This is important because it allows
advertisers to purchase not only number of impressions but the time at which
those impressions are delivered. High traffic time would be charged at a
premium. This allows you to offer a deeper variety to your sponsors. The
Sesame-ad technology is not intrusive on your website's design. It is
activated only when hyperlinks, of your choice, are clicked on. Finally,
for the reporting and services side of things, echoMEDIA has formed a
high-level strategic relationship with BellCore and EMC. Sesame-ad's
reports, co-developed by echo and BellCore, are password protected and
available online to its website and advertising clients. T3 connectivity to
our site and its reports are provided by EMC's Internet Service Division.
