ONLINE-ADS>> CPM and Click-through averages

Dear Group:

I was wondering how accurate are the industry averages for CPM and
Click-through rates. Are these simply an average of the top ten to
twenty sites or is it encompassing all sites (including the small to
medium range sites). If these research projects are focusing solely on
the higher ranked sites this in turn will produce misleading information
on the averages. What I would like to know is how can a survey like
this be performed and can it be performed? Are CPM's and
click-through's actually lower than what we may think. And if they are
lower how can this be expressed to the Web community so we can set an
industry standard for price posting (if we even have to). I would
really appreciate responses.
