Dear Group; I'm sick and tired of hearing about high CPMs.I have been in the
media business for over 30 years and understand that buyers are supposed to
complain about media costs, especially electronic media. They think it costs
nothing extra to run their ads and that publishers should welcome their low
ball offers for our valuable space.
CPMs on the web have to be compared to "opened" direct mail pieces....Can
you imagine what a video tape sent through the mail cost per time viewed?
Its gotta be at least $20 after you factor in production ,mail
expenses, duplication and agency charges against the real number of
recipients who actually view the tape ( 3rd party auditing?). We at The Auto
Channel would love to get paid at a rate of $20,000 per thousand views. The
internet is worth more then we are getting paid for it.Stand tall content
providers!
